It's Important to Give and Receive in your Dynamic

It is one of the simplest things to overlook. How our presence, words, and actions all contribute to the dynamic between us and someone else. What we do and don't do, and how, has an impact. And yet, we don't always pay attention to the layers of an interaction.

Sometimes it's as simple as not having time to slow down and appreciate what's happening. Or we become too results focused, or we are simply having an off day and can't be f@#%ing bothered about the details. My hand is up, I get there. Right now in fact (but I am still going to finish this).

Stop and think about your relationships with other people.

You are still reading this, and that means you get how important it is to understand what a healthy dynamic does and doesn't look like. Whether family, friends, or colleagues, the intricacies of your dynamic with another shape your future exchanges. It shapes the overall relationship - and even defines whether or not the dynamic will continue.

So why do we put a half ass effort in when it comes to our dynamic with another person? For many, it's easy to give less or even as little as possible. And at times we don't even realize we aren't 100 percent present, because we feel overwhelmed, stuck, and burnt out. It happens unconsciously. Being mindful, including additional focus on self-awareness, goes a long way in showing up in an optimal way when in the presence of others. Making, and taking, time for you - by yourself - is another important practice if you want to be as close to fully charged as possible when engaging with someone. Coaching can create the space to slow things down and understand when you're at your best - learn more about working together.

Dynamics shift.

Remember, it's about the give and receive in a dynamic with another person. You are only responsible for how you show up, how you manage your emotional reactions, how you choose to respond. Sometimes there isn't a lot to receive. If that's someone not showing up in a healthy way, name it. If they're not listening or they're being judgmental, say something. Have a conversation. Take the positives, whatever they are, and give in a way that is true to your values. If that doesn't resonate with the other person, that's okay - you can figure out together what comes next between you two.

When you consistently carry yourself this way the results will be nothing less than impressive. You'll find yourself with the people that you're meant to spend time with.

Respect the importance of maintaining and growing your dynamic with others. That goodwill, and relationship, goes both directions. By showing up, being present, and bringing value people will pay attention. Your impact on the dynamic, and the environment within which it takes place, results in second order change. That leadership provides an unspoken opportunity for others to explore, change and develop - and for you to have relationships with others in a way that aligns with your wants. Give and receive.

Be the one leading the shift. And if you feel ready to take that next step, you're welcome to book a free consultation.
